Hip Hop Generation speaks out in support of Michael Jackson.
Dick Gregory is one tough act to follow. He certainly does his homework. Yet I must add that the media has had a tendency to try to isolate Michael Jackson from the Hip Hop generation by deeming him a Pop Icon. Michael Jackson was a soulful RB singer way before the Pop labeling came into play. Needless to say that when America gives you that POP icon status, they quickly POP your bubble and demean you with countless hateful and ill colored messages in the media-especially if you are Black. This is the nature of America and its fascination with making idols and then destroying them because they are too famous. What a paradox. And please don't be Black and a popular artist. For it isn't even a desire for the White Supremacist's psyche to have you meet their plateau of success. Although White corporations will accept it all the same, because it is more money for their "partnership," deep within White Supremacists have an ever piercing anger that some "Nigger" reached a status of success. THE NERVE OF THIS NIGGER. The media lurks in the dark, waiting for the slightest infraction to occur-it soothes the psyche of the White Supremacist. They can comfortably say, "I told you that they were not good enough, we gave them a chance and they still can't function in society." Race does matter folks. Because truth be told if it wasn't a lucrative and joint money making operation, Michael Jackson, James Brown and any other entertainer would not have been able to cross those barriers. But they were POPular enough to make enough money, but not white enough to gain respect.
Is Michael Jackson weird? These labels began to haunt Michael because he didn't wish to have the world enter his home. I think Michael Jackson is using what psychologists would call- self preservation. He chose to separate himself from the scrutiny and vile antagonistic media representatives that ate him alive whenever they got the opportunity. His face lifts, his face changes. That is his desire. He probably didn't have any more face lifts than Cher. Does hanging around children make him a freak? Bottom line Michael Jackson is compensating for a childhood that he never had. What are we compensating for..some of us over do it after we got that perfect body and dress skimpy now for attention. Some 50 year olds go to clubs as though they were teenagers because they had children too young and didn't get a chance to be wild. There are countless cases of compensation. What are you compensating for?
Michael Jackson was very active on a very prominent issue- Record Label Theft. For countless of years Record labels tried to outwit Blacks and not pay them the royalties that they deserved. Blacks are shrewd enough to consider that Michael's recent stance against Tommy Motolla (SONY) a record label with power that exceeds our wildest imaginations- was not only a controversial stance, it was a stance against racism. History is the best qualifier and indicates that any one that speaks against racism not only immediately appears under a distorted magnifying glass, the media will saturate the news channel with terminology that reeks of venom. Don't Believe me? Al Sharpton has to thank the news reporter that cut and sliced and distorted a conversation with the FBI agent to infer that he was a Drug abuser. Oh you don't believe me? Jessie Jackson's recent "scandal" of infidelity emerged at the most prominent time after the PEACE IN PUERTO RICO. Don't Believe me? Minister Farrakhan was called Anti-Semite and Racist. Don't Believe Me? Martin Luther King Jr. was jailed and it was leaked about his family life. Don't Believe me? Try being Black and speaking out against racist acts.
Music Industry and Media moguls alike, you tried to separate Michael Jackson from us before, and it worked for a while. It won't work anymore. The Hip Hop generation remembers Michael Jackson - we had our Michael Jackson glove, and jacket. I even remember the Michael Jackson button that I had, it read: BEAT IT. Get the picture?
