Stoke-on-Trent's most famous son Robbie Williams has apologised for not performing at the Cannes festival, where he was due to perform a duet with Alanis Morissette in support of the movie De-Lovely.

The ex-Take That dancer didn't specify why he couldn't do the show, but was deeply apologetic.

In a statement, the star, who apparently scored an £80 million record deal with EMI said the following:

"I am sorry I cannot be there at the Cannes Film Festival to support De-Lovely for personal reasons.

"I had an amazing time working on the film and am so proud to be a part of it. I look forward to supporting the film as it is released around the world and wish all my colleagues the best at the screening and concert."

My mind is wandering too :? What do you think it could be ~0 Firstly, I hope he is alright. I can only assume that MGM executives and the PR people working on behalf of Robbie in the States are not too impressed either :@

I read in the paper today that Britney is having trouble selling her tickets in Germany, servers her right - over this side of the world miming does not go down as well as it does in America!!!! Apparently she cancelled gigs claiming a technical problem - really it was because she would be performing to half a venue. I am proud of Germany and the acknowledgement that they have given to Robbie at his gigs last year. No mean feat to fill stadiums :D

As for Rob missig Cannes - that statement sounds like a standard PR reply doesn't it :? and hey personal reasons are personal reasons whatever they are doesn't mean its anything bad :)

The whole circus of Cannes is not Rob's scene anyways and he doesn't need or obviously doesn't want the publicity (at the minute) plus its not up to him to sell the movie he was only in it for a minute or two its up to the stars to push it !!!

I agree as well. And anyway citing personal reasons sounds better than business ones (so they wouldn't think he has any better business to attend to ;) )

Well, we all don't know what he does right now...but I don't give a damn on it. I'm glad if he does only enjoy.... ;)
