BRITISH POP STARS HIT BY ROYALTY 'IRREGULARITIES'
British artists ROBBIE WILLIAMS, BLUR, TRAVIS and TOM JONES have lost out on thousands of dollars, thanks to "significant financial irregularities" at the company that pays their royalties.
The ASSOCIATION OF UNITED RECORDING ARTISTS (AURA) have been forced to fire director PETER HORREY after discovering at least $1.3 million (GBP700,000) had gone missing from accounts set up to pay pop stars.
Horrey's assets have now been frozen and the organisation today (09JUN04) confirmed civil action will follow.
Aura distributes $3.6 million (GBP2 million) a year in royalties from radio airplay and other public performances of their artists' music.
Company secretary NIGEL PARKER says, "We were absolutely stunned to discover this. We've been put in this position by someone who's been our trusted employee for the best part of five years."

Hmm... I guess that would hurt Blue a bit more than Rob or Tom Jones... #)

I'm not surprised Robbie (business brain of a hampster) didn't notice he wasn't getting the money he should have, but David and Tim shame on you.

Oh well, with all those millions they are shifting every day, you can't blame them for not noticing that GBP 700,000 were missing... ;)

Rob can afford to have the business brain of a hamster as he pays others more than enough to do those things for him, Im sure its far more comlicated than anyone realises, these things go on alot in the music business and alot of it never gets found out

I'm surprised you think Robbie has the business brain of a hamster - people who used to work with him often enough mentioned that he is quite clever with his money. Even Nicole A. noticed ;)

I don't even have the business brain of a pee !@#$
Vlatka - 10.06.2004 - 18:41
Let's see....no, I don't feel sorry for any of them.

Rob's highly intelligent, I just don't think the business side of the biz holds much interest for him. And as for hampsters I'm sure many of them could run a business successfully if it weren't for the terrible prejudice that some of the smaller mammals face from the business community.

LOL Vlatka :p

To be honest....me neither.
He doesn't look like he's starving,does he? ;)

Even though he's got a lot of money, I do feel kind of sorry for him if that's true. He has worked for that money, and I don't think it's ever nice to be ripped off by someone?
Marieke - 11.06.2004 - 10:58
Nope, sorry, tried really hard, but can't muster up the slightest bit of sympathy. I mean, they should get what they deserve, but it's not like they're desparate for a few exta quid is it.....

That's my point, he should get what he deserves, even if he's very rich. And it's not 'extra' money, it's all part of his normal wages, so he should get those and if he doesn't I do feel sorry for him. I don't make that much money - obviously - but if someone ripped me off for about £5, then I would feel annoyed, even if I don't need that fiver.

it really isnt about teh money is it? its about the principal... if its his money he's entitled to it, the same for the other artists. It doesnt matter whether someone has £10 or £10,000,000 it is about whats right and proper surely. Id be the first in line to complain if someone stole money out of my wages so I do feel sorry for all the artists

Not right to do, but I'm sure Rob won't miss the money.... %) ;)
