People Can Fly is touting "Painkiller" to feed gamer's hunger for intense, fast-paced action. Hell is preparing for Armageddon and setting up "demon" nests all over earth trying to speed judgment day along. You come from a family calling themselves "Painkillers". With demonic powers you and your weapons will destroy these hellish beasts. You are only allowed to use your unearthly powers after condemning each one hundred souls back to hell. Not much has been revealed on what type of power this will release, but a few tidbits point to hellfire. Soon after the deal is made to grant you this power, you find out that you are in for more than you bargained for. You are now left to kill all demonic creatures you find. "Painkiller's" gameplay is reminiscent of "Quake World", however, the atmosphere will be closer to a "Doom 3" feel. "Painkiller" promises lasting replay value: "Painkiller" will feature a standard single player campaign, with additional modes to encourage replay. People Can Fly are hard at work on tweaking the gameplay and working out any bugs in the scripted sequences. One aspect of the gameplay that the developer has revealed is that "Painkiller's" enemies will be able to launch you into mid air. Whatever you can do to the enemies in Painkiller, they can do right back to you. "Painkiller" will feature five chapters spanning 20 levels, not including monster arenas, with a cinematic at the end of each of the five chapters. "Painkiller's" gameplay will come to an average of 18 - 20 gameplay hours assuming you are an average player and play on the default difficulty.
