Certainly, our chronicle of the heart has never let up this season. After the wedding of Jacques and Johanna, there is another 30-something veteran who seems to be on the verge of getting married.

David Coulthard opened up to a British daily newspaper recently to confirm that he is indeed engaged to his sweetheart Karen Minier. He said it is only a matter of deciding on a wedding date, which will be sooner rather than later.

The Scotsman even revealed some surprising confidences. "I thought my life would be a series of short, passionate relationships, ultimately unfulfilled," he said. "I'm living something now that I never believed would happen to me, and time will tell how long this journey lasts - it might be a few years, it might be a decade, it might be a lifetime. I don't know. What I do know is that I don't want to let her down, and that was never a worry in the past."

In the great F1 history book, 2006 may well be remembered as the year that Villeneuve and Coulthard - confirmed bachelors, both 35, born just a few weeks apart in 1971 - simultaneously chose to get married.

acques To Race Le Mans With Peugeot
Good news! It has been confirmed that Jacques will drive a diesel-powered Peugeot in this year's Le Mans 24 Hours sportscar race.

In a statement released on January 10, Peugeot announced that Jacques will form part of a six man, two-car team for the June 16-17 race at the Sarthe circuit. He will be the first Formula One champion to compete in the classic race since American Mario Andretti's last appearance in 2000.

He will join forces with Ferrari's Spanish Formula One test driver Marc Gene, Portugal's Pedro Lamy, France's ChampCar champion Sebastien Bourdais and French drivers Nicolas Minassian and Stephane Sarrazin.

"Jacques is someone who has turned up and won every competition that he's undertaken," commented Peugeot's team manager Serge Saulnier. "I like his sporting spirit and knew that he'd dreamed of taking part in the Le Mans 24 Hours. When I contacted him, he convinced me that he could become the first driver in the world to win Formula One, Champcar, Indianapolis and the Le Mans 24 Hours," he added.

Jacques won the Indy 500 in 1995, the CART title that same year and then the Formula One crown with Williams in 1997.

“This is a race I’ve always wanted and hoped to do” said Jacques at a presentation of the 908 Diesel HDi car. “It’s quite a mystical race, a little like the Indy 500 in that way, and I’d really like to get it in the bag. Peugeot are such a professional outfit with a great racing history and passion, which makes this really exciting - and the car looks fantastic too. It would be amazing to get the quadruple crown so to speak.”

Jacques added that he was still also interested in eventually following Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya from Formula One to NASCAR.

Peugeot won Le Mans in 1992 and 1993 and started their current programme in 2005 after they withdrew from the world rally championship. The manufacturer said 2007 would be a 'breaking-in' period before going for victory in 2008. More information can be found at www.peugeot-sport.com

«Je me fous que ce soit Team Villeneuve ou n'importe quelle équipe. Il y a plusieurs pistes possibles comme se faire payer un volant, amener un commanditaire ou être dans une écurie satellite. Nous les étudions toutes, mais l'important c'est DE NE PAS SE FAIRE BOUFFER. Je veux garder un certain contrôle sur ma destinée, affirme Jacques.»

Et puis, il a très hâte de courir de nouveau sur des ovales.
Ça lui a manqué en F1.

Pour le NASCAR, il fera comme son père en F1, il apportera toute sa famille dans un motorisé près des différents circuits.

Pour Montréal.

Il habite Westmount et s'y plaît vraiment.
Ses racines sont québécoises et il veut que son fils ait une éducation en français.

Pour son fils et la course

Jacques veut faire comme son père et mettre aussitôt que possible un motocross entre les mains de son fils. «Mon père, dit-il, m'a mis sur une motoneige à quatre ans et je me promenais seul dans les bois en moto avec ma soeur à huit ans. Je veux que ce soit pareil pour lui (Jules).»

Pour la Formule 1

Il y retournerai à condition de courir pour Ferrari.
Mais il ajoute aussi que lorsqu'il aura fait le saut en NASCAR, il ne pensera plus à la F1.
Il se concentrera sur le NASCAR.

Il se dit toutefois heureux d'avoir fait ces deux dernières années en F1.
Cela a permis de refaire son image.
«Les deux dernières années m'ont permis de montrer aux médias, aux gens dans le paddock et au public en général que l'image négative de moi qui existait n'avait rien à voir avec la réalité»

On apprend aussi que pour garder son poste chez BMW en 2006, il a dû modifier son contrat.
«Je voulais rouler et c'était ça ou me battre avec leurs avocats.»
Theissen c'est vraiment une merde...

Jacques ajoute qu'il a fait ce qu'il avait à faire en F1 et en monoplace et qu'il est content de la façon dont les choses se passent depuis son départ.

La paternité

Jacques est serein.
Il découvre des valeurs auxquelles il ne pensait pas avant.
«Je suis tellement content d'être père. Ça m'a fait découvrir un paquet de choses en moi que je ne soupçonnais pas. Je suis encore le même mais des choses qui me semblaient importantes il n'y a pas si longtemps ne veulent plus rien dire.
Rien ne peut aller mal quand tu prends ton p'tit boutte.»

Pour Peugeot.

Jacques a toujours voulu courir aux 24 heures du Mans, mais il ne croyait pas le faire cette année.
Il dit que ça tombe bien puisqu'il a du temps et qu'il n'est totalement impliqué dnas le NASCAR comme il le sera l'an prochain.
Même si Peugeot vise la victoire en 2008, Jacques semble lui vise 2007.
«Disons que, si on est devant, on ne ralentira pas parce que Peugeot avait prévu de ne gagner que l'an prochain.»

Toujours la passion du pilotage

Hier Villeneuve était fatigué, il n'avait pas dormi trois heures. Son fils ronflait dans la voiture et Jacques n'a pas vraiment dormi.
À Villars, il y avait une petite course de bolides sur la glace et la neige. Avec Vattanen, Mondini, Stewart et Tambay.
Au début, Jacques se disait trop fatigué pour piloter.
Une fois à bord d'un de ces bolides, Jacques ne voulait plus en sortir.
Tandis que les autres pilotes étaient sur leur grade et faisient tout pour rester loin des cônes, Jacques lui s'amusait comme un fou. Comme son père Jacques enchaînait les dérapages contrôlés, les glisses et les reprises d'enfer. Il s'est permi quelques passages près dela foule pour arroser la galerie d'une bonne gicleé de gadoue.

Dominic Fugère ajoute «epndant ce temps on pouvait apercevoir le SOURIRE radieux du beau Jacquot au travers du pare-brise.»

Interview von gestern :) Er sagt, dass er Jules, wenn er 4 ist, zum Motorsport hinführen möchte,weil sein Vater das so mit ihm gemacht hat und er immer viel Spaß hatte. Er sagt auch, dass Jules ihn verändert hat und er glaubt dass "im Leben nichts schief gehen kann, wenn man sein Kind in den Armen hat" #rotesherz

Habe noch ein Interview von gestern gelesen (auf Französisch). Jules ist bei ihm in Villars und er sagte, er habe nur drei Stunden geschlafen, weil Jules die ganze Zeit laut war *g*

Villeneuve stellt neues Album am 19. Februar vor

Formel-1-Stars wurden nach dem Ende ihrer Grand-Prix-Karriere schon Politiker, Airliner oder TV-Kommentatoren, doch von der Rennstrecke auf die Bühne, dieser unkonventionelle Weg ist noch neu. So geschehen bei Jacques Villeneuve, dem Weltmeister von 1997, der sich inzwischen schon recht professionell an einer Musikerkarriere versucht.
Bereits im vergangenen Jahr hatte der Kanadier bei seinem Heim-Grand-Prix in Montréal die Debütsingle "Accepterais-tu?" vorgestellt, die nur in limitierter Auflage produziert wurde und schnell wieder vergriffen war. Aufgrund des unerwarteten Erfolgs des Projekts nahm sich Villeneuve - speziell nach seinem Rauswurf beim BMW Sauber F1 Team - mehr Zeit für seine Musik, um an einem kompletten Album zu basteln.
"Mein Album, das übrigens 'Private Paradise' heißt, wird am 19. Februar in meinem Club 'Newtown' in Montréal veröffentlicht", gab der 35-Jährige zu Protokoll. "Anschließend wird es einen Tag der offenen Tür geben, an dem ich singen werde, live aus dem Album. Ja, ich werde mit meiner Band in meinem Restaurant einige Songs zum Besten geben. Dort werden wir dann bekannt geben, ab wann genau es die CD weltweit zu kaufen geben wird."
Auf der Bühne stand Villeneuve schon am vergangenen Wochenende in Villars: "Es war toll! Meine Band spielte vor einem Publikum von 4.000 Menschen ein paar Nummern am Gipfel eines Berges. Mein Freund Garou aus Kanada war auch da und beendete das Konzert ganz brillant. Die anderen Gruppen waren Electric City aus Großbritannien und The Canettes Blue Band aus Genf. Es hat Spaß gemacht, alle hatten eine tolle Zeit", so der Ehemann und Familienvater.
