INXS TV search for singer Jun 15 2004
Aussie band INXS have launched a reality TV programme to find a replacement for late lead singer Michael Hutchence.
According to the Daily Mirror, the show, Rock Star, which will be screened on US TV, will follow the band as they hold auditions on five continents. Whoever wins will record an album and tour with the group.
INXS guitarist Tim Farriss said: “We wanted to search the world for a new singer but didn’t know how we could effectively do that.
“But we’ve now found a fantastic way to make that happen.”
Hutchence was found hanged in an apparent suicide in a Sydney hotel room in 1997, aged 37.
Contestants on "Rock Star" will compete to become lead singer of the band INXS and go on a world tour. (INXS lead singer Michael Hutchence killed himself in 1997.)

"I feel that there's room on TV for more than one great big talent show, and I feel that rock music has been totally left out of that mix," said Burnett, creator of "Survivor" and "The Apprentice."
Voting will be split between band members, viewers and an expert.
