Thought we could start a thread with your favourite albums at the mo´. Here are my first two:

The Soul Sessions - Joss Stone

Call off the search - Katie Melua

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0000CGD12.03.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Vlatka - 04.05.2004 - 06:43

I am supposed to get a copy of Soul Sessions soon. I've heard some of it on the radio and it's good. :)

The most recent album I bought is Skin's Fleshwounds.

Claire - 04.05.2004 - 16:23

Oh, it IS a good one. I am so impressed by Joss' talent.

As I am music addicted, I guess I will love this topic. *lol*

At the moment I am listening to the following album:

Kari Bremnes: "You'd have to be here"

My plugg is for the most underated album of last year and the one that finally made me take Escapology off my cd player in between the occasional quick bursts of Coldplay & Eninem (what I wouldn't give for having a new album by him :) ) is Marks album 'In Your Own Time'. I haven't been able to listen to anything else for the last 3 months It's that good! #)

It's completely different to his first album that I never liked as it was awful, and has the brilliant 'Four Minute Warning'. My favorite tracks are Gravity, Alone Without You, Kill With Your Smile, Close To the Edge, My Life (which if you are someone that is into a big power stile ballads, you will love this ;) ) and the brilliant 'If You Were Leaving Me' which is definately a song to bounce to and includes the brilliant lyrics -

"I'm gonna stand on your parade, I need to jump into your grave. I'm gonna stalk you I'm afraid, I wanna be your F**king pain. By the way, you know it's all your fault. I'm gonna get into your head and every day out of your bed. Buy you roses pale red and then I'll take you shoping. So come and get it, what the hell you waiting for!"

Fantastic, I could almost sing it to Rob :D

I must also mention the song that Mark wrote for Rob called 'Pieces Of Heaven', which is track seven. Mark mainly talks about Rob's demons and Marks attempt is to give positive encouragement to him.

Even if you listen to the album and then decide that you hate it, at least then you given it a try But do give it a try! :)

Keane - Hopes and Fears

Sort of 'Travis-goes-Coldplay-light'.

Fits the weather ;)

I agree with A2 that Mark's album is absolutely brilliant, so much better than I expected it to be. How do you that about Pieces of heaven A2? It's such a beautiful song!

Just before the album came out, I went to see Mark do some t.v promotion for Alone Without You and whilst he was chatting with me, my mate Sarah and a couple of fans outside The Des and Mel Show, he mentioned that he had written a song for Rob called 'Pieces Of Heaven' which he is really proud of. :) Mark said that he was inspired to write it as when Rob was going through the worst of the drink and drugs, he wanted to help but didn't quite know what to do. So he wrote the song. He didn't say wether or not Rob had heard it or not though. :)

How do I make sure I mention Robbie Williams when I promote my album....
%) %)

Nic - 11.05.2004 - 16:33

I don't think he ever mentioned it in interviews etc though?
A2 - 11.05.2004 - 17:06

Thank you for that Nic cause your right. :) Mark has never said publicly that Peices of Heaven is about Rob as the official line that he says in interviews is that 99% of the album is about his now ex girlfriend Cloe and the only time he even mentions either TT or anything to do with Rob is because he gets asked in interviews about the Knebworth thing which was a big deal to alot of people and as far as Take That are concerened, they were one of the biggest boybands that we have ever had in the U.K, of course any interviewer is gonna ask him about it wether he wants them to or not.

All Mark was trying to do was to give a nice gesture.

Karin - 11.05.2004 - 17:15

To be honest, I find Mark two-faced. That's what made me not like him anymore, as I used to be a big fan. I used to meet him quite a lot, when he didn't have a record deal and before Big Brother and he made some remarks about Robbie and his succes to us which I found very insulting. Pure jealousy I think, but the things he said were not nice at all.

He comes across as a really nice person, but I've seen him act the total opposite a few times which made me wonder what he's really like. Is he as nice and caring as on telly and in interviews? Or is he not and we've seen him show his true colours?
I do think his album (2nd one) is very good btw.

Nic - 11.05.2004 - 19:30

Karin's right, I remember he once said something about Rob which really really pissed me off but I can't remember what it was. But still when I see him telly it's still sweet little Markie...

That's exactly the thing that put me off!
If you meet him(and I met him a lot of times)he's totally sweet in your face
but sometimes he turned around and acted like an idiot(sorry!)
I remember him saying that Rob's just famous because of his drug abuse
and"girlfriends"and not because of his talent.
"Friends" don't say things like that,do they?

He's just not honest-but then again...who is in this business???

Claire - 11.05.2004 - 21:51

Well, I also met Mark quite a few times, and all I can say is that he has always been very nice and politely (so did Rob). Actually he usually came to me and aksed how I was doing and so on. I never saw him talking behind one's back nor did my friends, BUT I*'d like to get back to the topic of this thread. *lol*

My recommendations for today:

Saybia - The Second You Sleep
Me&Cassity - Between Wake And Sleep
JJ72 - I To Sky
Motorpsycho - It's A Love Cult
Belasco - Knowing Everyone's Okay

Mark has never been rude to me personally, nor behind my back that I know of, he comes across as a very polite man - kind, caring, etc.
But we got to know him a bit better at one point as we followed him for quite a bit - and he's just not as nice in 'real life'. He slagged off Robbie (not just once), he will say anything to people what he thinks they want to hear. He's very good at his own PR...and it's very hard to get closer to him, just cos he's always thinking about how he comes across. We've seen him drunk and stoned a few times, and then you also see a totally different man which in behaviour doesn't even look like the Mark you sometimes meet or see on telly.

Just my opinion...

Claire - 11.05.2004 - 22:15

Basically I don't care much what person Mark might be in real life (and I never met him as a "fan" ). But some of my friends also got to know him a bit closer and they couldn't confirm that he showed two sides of his behaviour. That's just where I got my information from and maybe he is different but I don't bother much about that. :)

THAT'S exactly what I meant.Maybe someone got me wrong.....
He wasn't rude to me or my friend either but I saw him
talking behind someones back a lot of times.
I think he was drunk/stoned nearly everytime I met him.
Well,I don't know about now,as I didn't meet him for a couple of years
and to be honest,I don't care anymore........
I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion about him and I can understand
if people like him in public but I'm just disillusioned... :(

My favorite album at the moment is Confessions by Usher
A lot of good R'n'B Ballads on it.
My favorite songs on the CD are Burn and Throwback.
